भारत आणि कॅनडामधील संबंध दिवसेंदिवस बिघडत चालले आहेत. कॅनडाचे पंतप्रधान जस्टिन ट्रूडो यांनी खलिस्तानी दहशतवादी हरदीप सिंह निज्जरच्या हत्येत भारताचा हात असल्याचा आरोप केला आहे. ट्रूडो यांनी म्हटले आहे की, हरदीप सिंग निज्जरच्या हत्येत भारत सरकारचे एजंट सहभागी असू शकतात. त्यानंतर हे संबंध अजूनच ताणले गेले. ब्रिटिश कोलंबियामध्ये 18 जून रोजी खलिस्तानी अतिरेकी हरदीपसिंग निज्जर याची हत्या झाली होती. यामागे भारतीय एजंटांचा 'संभाव्य' सहभाग असल्याचा आरोप ट्रूडो यांनी केला होता. भारताने 2020 मध्ये निज्जरला दहशतवादी म्हणून घोषित केले होते. आता या पार्श्वभूमीवर जस्टिन ट्रूडो यांनी आज माध्यमांशी संवाद साधला.
ते म्हणाले, ‘कॅनडाच्या भूमीवर एका कॅनेडियनच्या हत्येत भारत सरकारच्या एजन्सींचा सहभाग होता यावर विश्वास ठेवण्याचे विश्वसनीय कारण आहे. आम्ही याचा पूर्ण तपास करू. आमच्याकडे एक स्वतंत्र न्याय व्यवस्था आणि मजबूत प्रक्रिया आहेत ज्या सत्य शोधण्यासाठी त्यांच्या मार्गाचे अनुसरण करतील. या प्रकरणाचे सत्य शोधण्यासाठी आम्हाला साथ देण्याचे आवाहन आम्ही भारताला करतो. तसेच भारताने त्यांच्यावर केलेले आरोप गांभीर्याने घ्यावेत. आम्ही आमच्या नागरिकांचे संरक्षण करू आणि आमच्या नागरिकांच्या सुरक्षेबद्दल आणि संरक्षणाबाबत आम्ही गंभीर आहोत. लोक जगभरातून कॅनडामध्ये विविध कारणांसाठी येतात, परंतु एकदा ते इथले नागरिक बनल्यानंतर ते देशाचे संरक्षण प्राप्त करण्यास ते पात्र आहेत.’ (हेही वाचा: Indian Visa Service in Canada: कॅनडामधील भारतीय उच्चायुक्तालयाची व्हिसा सुविधा पुन्हा सुरु)
