आर अश्विनने शनिवारी कानपूर येथे पहिल्या कसोटीच्या तिसर्या दिवशी न्यूझीलंडचा सलामीवीर टॉम लॅथमला बाद केले आणि भारताचा तिसरा सर्वाधिक विकेट घेणारा हरभजन सिंहला मागे टाकले. अश्विनच्या कारकिर्दीत 418 विकेट्स झाल्या तर हरभजनच्या नावावर खेळाच्या सर्वात मोठ्या फॉरमॅटमध्ये 417 विकेट्स आहेत. अश्विनने टॉम लॅथमला बाद करून त्याचा 418 वा कसोटी बळी मिळवला.
