मुंबईतील वरळी येथे बेदरकारपणे BMW हाकत नाखवा दाम्पत्यास चिरडणाऱ्या आणि या घटनेत कावेरी नाखवा यांच्या मृत्यूस कारण ठरलेल्या आरोपीस अद्यापही अटक झाली नाही. त्यामुळे काँग्रेस प्रदेशाध्यक्ष नाना पटोले यांनी या प्रकरणातील आरोपींना राज्य सरकार संरक्षण देत आहे. आरोपी मोकाट फिरत आहेत. महाराष्ट्रातील कायदा आणि सुव्यवस्था ढासळली आहे असा आरोप केला आहे. तसेच, आगामी काळात जनता महाराष्ट्र सरकारला त्यांची जागा दाखवून देईल, असेही पटोले यांनी म्हटले आहे.
