ही घटना केरळच्या अलाप्पुझा जिल्ह्यात घडली जिथे शोरनूर-जाणाऱ्या वेनाड एक्स्प्रेसचा लोको पायलट चेरियानाड नावाच्या छोट्या रेल्वे स्टेशनवर थांबला नाही.
केरळमधील एका ट्रेनला 500 मीटरपेक्षा जास्त अंतर उलटा प्रवास करावा लागला. रेल्वे स्थानकावर थांबलेले प्रवाश्यांना यामुळे ट्रेन पकडणे शक्य झाले. ही घटना केरळच्या अलाप्पुझा जिल्ह्यात घडली जिथे शोरनूर-जाणाऱ्या वेनाड एक्स्प्रेसचा लोको पायलट चेरियानाड नावाच्या छोट्या रेल्वे स्टेशनवर थांबला नाही. त्याने थांबा सोडल्याचे लक्षात येताच, लोको पायलटने स्टेशनवर थांबलेल्या प्रवाशांना ट्रेनमध्ये बसवण्यासाठी 700 मीटरपर्यंत उलटी चालवण्यात आली.
