सूर्यास्ताच्या वेळी सूर्यदेव आपली दुसरी पत्नी प्रत्युषासोबत असतात आणि यावेळी सूर्याला अर्घ्य दिल्याने जीवनातील सर्व समस्या दूर होतात आणि प्रत्युषामुळे सौभाग्य वाढते. अशी भाविकांची धारणा आहे.
छठ पूजेच्या 4 दिवसांच्या उत्सवामधील आजचा तिसरा दिवस आहे. कार्तिक शुद्ध षष्ठीच्या दिवशी आज मावळत्या सूर्याला अर्घ्य देण्याची रीत आहे. मुंबईच्या समुद्र किनार्यापासून देशभर पाणवठ्याच्या जागा, घाटांवर सूर्याला अर्घ्य देण्यासाठी भाविकांनी मोठी गर्दी केल्याचं बघायला मिळालं आहे. यामागील श्रद्धा अशी आहे की सूर्यास्ताच्या वेळी सूर्यदेव आपली दुसरी पत्नी प्रत्युषासोबत असतात आणि यावेळी सूर्याला अर्घ्य दिल्याने जीवनातील सर्व समस्या दूर होतात आणि प्रत्युषामुळे सौभाग्य वाढते.
