चीनमध्ये सुरू असलेल्या आशियाई क्रीडा स्पर्धेत (Asian Games 2023) भारताने दमदार सुरुवात केली आहे. भारतीय खेळाडूंनी पहिल्याच दिवशी 5 पदके जिंकली आहेत. भारतासाठी पहिले पदक अर्जुन लाल जाट आणि अरविंद सिंग यांनी रोइंगच्या हलक्या वजनाच्या दुहेरी स्कलमध्ये जिंकले. या जोडीने रौप्यपदक पटकावले. महिला संघाने 10 मीटर एअर रायफलमध्ये भारताला दुसरे पदक मिळवून दिले. मेहुली घोष, रमिता आणि आशी चोक्सी यांनी रौप्य पदक जिंकले. बाबूलाल यादव आणि लेखराम यांनी जोडी रोइंग स्पर्धेत भारतीय संघासाठी तिसरे पदक (कांस्य) जिंकले. चौथे पदक: रोईंग-8 मध्ये नीरज, नरेश कलवानिया, नितीश कुमार, चरणजित सिंग, जसविंदर सिंग, भीम सिंग, पुनित कुमार, आशिष आणि धनंजय उत्तम पांडे यांनी भारतासाठी रौप्यपदक जिंकले. रमिताने भारतासाठी पाचवे पदक जिंकले. त्याने 10 मीटर रायफलमध्ये कांस्यपदक जिंकले.
