एमसीएला आशा आहे की एम.एस. धोनी 8 एप्रिल रोजी एमआय सोबत सीएसकेच्या सामन्यासाठी मुंबईत असेल तेव्हा या स्मारकाचे उद्घाटन होईल.
आज MCA Apex Council ने 2011 च्या विश्वचषक विजयाच्या स्मरणार्थ वानखेडे स्टेडियममध्ये एक छोटेसे विजय स्मारक बनवण्याचा निर्णय घेतला आहे. एमएस धोनीचा ऐतिहासिक विजयी षटकार ज्या ठिकाणी स्टँडवर उतरला होता त्या ठिकाणी हे स्मारक बांधले जाईल. मुंबई क्रिकेट असोसिएशनचे (MCA) अध्यक्ष अमोल काळे यांनी एएनआयला याबाबत माहिती दिली. काळे यांनी पुढे सांगितले की, एमसीए उद्या एमएस धोनीशी संपर्क साधेल आणि स्मारकाच्या उद्घाटनासाठी वेळ देण्याची विनंती करेल. एमसीएला आशा आहे की एम.एस. धोनी 8 एप्रिल रोजी एमआय सोबत सीएसकेच्या सामन्यासाठी मुंबईत असेल तेव्हा या स्मारकाचे उद्घाटन होईल. तारीख अद्याप निश्चित झालेली नाही कारण ती पूर्णपणे एमएस धोनीच्या संमती आणि उपलब्धतेवर अवलंबून असेल. वानखेडे स्टेडियममध्ये विश्वचषक विजय स्मारकाचे उद्घाटन करताना एमसीए एमएस धोनीचा सत्कारदेखील करेल.
