आसाम, आंध्र प्रदेश आणि राजस्थान या राज्यांनी भारतात समलिंगी विवाहांना कायदेशीर करण्यास विरोध दर्शवला आहे. दरम्यान केंद्र सरकारने 18 एप्रिल रोजी जारी केलेल्या पत्राला उत्तर देताना राज्यांनी आपले मत व्यक्त केले, ज्यात सर्वोच्च न्यायालयासमोर समलिंगी विवाह प्रकरणात उपस्थित केलेल्या मुद्द्यांवर सर्व राज्यांकडून टीप्पणी मागवण्यात आली होती.
