इराकमधील प्रमुख शहर बसरा येथील एका स्टेडियममध्ये फुटबॉल सामन्यादरम्यान चेंगराचेंगरी झाली आहे. या घटनेमध्ये एका व्यक्तीचा मृत्यू झाला आहे, तर शेकडो जखमी झाले आहे. वृत्तसंस्था अल्जझीराने इराकच्या अंतर्गत मंत्र्यांच्या हवाल्याने सांगितले की, गुरुवारी झालेल्या चेंगराचेंगरीत साधारण 80 जण जखमी झाले. चार दशकांनंतर देशात झालेल्या पहिल्या आंतरराष्ट्रीय सॉकर स्पर्धेच्या अंतिम सामन्यात सहभागी होण्यासाठी प्रेक्षक जमले असताना ही प्राणघातक घटना घडली.
