Gloucester A40 विमान आपत्कालीन स्थितीमुळे तातडीने उतरवण्यात आले. महत्त्वाचे म्हणजे वजनाला अत्यंत हलके समजले जाणारे हे विमान ग्लॉसेस्टर (Gloucester) आणि चेल्तेनहॅम (Cheltenham) दरम्यान गोल्डन व्हॅली बायपासच्या मध्यवर्ती ठिकाणी उतरविण्यात आले. ही घटना गुरुवारी (10 ऑगस्ट) सायंकाळी 6.00 वाजण्याच्या सुमारास घडली. विमान उतरवताना सर्व आपत्कालीन सेवा घटनास्थळी उपलब्ध होत्या. ग्लुसेस्टरशायर कॉन्स्टेब्युलरीने सांगितले की, विमान अगदी आरामात आणि हळुवार उतविण्यात आले. जेणेकरुन आपत्कालीन स्थितीत उतरवूनही विमानातील कोणीही जखमी झाले नाही. सायंकाळी सहा वाजण्याच्या सुमारास आम्हाला एक कॉल आला. त्यांनी कल्पना दिली की, ए 40 गोल्डन व्हॅलीवर हलके विमान आपत्कालीन स्थितीमुळे अचानक उतरवावे लागणार आहे. त्यानंतर लगेच आम्ही सज्ज झालो.

विमान उतरविण्यापूर्वी काही काळ पूर्ण बंद होता. ज्यामुळे स्थानिक ठिकाण असलेल्या M5 च्या A417 आणि J11 च्या दिशेने जाणारी वाहतूक पूर्ण बंद झाली. विमान उतरवताना सर्व यंत्रणा सज्ज होती. विमान उतरविण्याबात माहिती मिळताच अवघ्या 10 मिनिटांमध्ये सर्व यंत्रणा सक्रीय झाल्या. मात्र, विमान उतरवताना पाहण्यासाठी मोठ्या प्रमाणावर गर्दी जमली होती, असेही ग्लुसेस्टरशायर कॉन्स्टेब्युलरीने सांगितले
