भारतीय शटलर किदाम्बी श्रीकांतने BWF वर्ल्ड चॅम्पियनशिपमध्ये इतिहास रचला.  त्याने या स्पर्धेतील रौप्य पदक जिंकले. अशी कामगिरी करणारा तो पहिला भारतीय पुरुष शटलर ठरला. विजेतेपदाच्या लढतीत त्याची गाठ सिंगापूरच्या लोह कीन युशी झाली, ज्यात त्याला पराभवाचा सामना करावा लागला. लोहने हा सामना 21-15 आणि 22-20 असा जिंकला.
