अर्थमंत्री निर्मला सीतारामन यांनी शुक्रवारी सांगितले की, त्यांचे सरकार मागील संयुक्त पुरोगामी आघाडी (UPA) सरकारचे 'पाप' धुवत आहे, कारण ते भविष्यात हस्तांतरित केलेल्या इंधन सबसिडीची परतफेड करत आहेत. राज्यसभेत अर्थसंकल्पावरील चर्चेला उत्तर देताना अर्थमंत्र्यांनी सांगितले की, तेलाच्या किमती न वाढवल्यामुळे झालेल्या नुकसानीच्या बदल्यात यूपीए सरकारने पेट्रोलियम कंपन्यांना तेल बॉण्ड्स जारी केले होते. हे रोखे भविष्यातील सरकारांद्वारे द्यायचे अनुदान होते. 'एनपीए' संदर्भात त्या म्हणाल्या, 10.09 लाख कोटी रुपयांची कर्जे गेल्या पाच वर्षांत बँकांनी राइट ऑफ केली आहेत आणि ती वेव्ह ऑफ केली गेली नाहीत. म्हणजेच कर्जदार कर्जासाठी जबाबदार असतील.
