फिलीपिन्समधील मनिला येथे आशियाई बॅडमिंटन चॅम्पियनशिपमध्ये किदाम्बी श्रीकांतला पुरुष एकेरीच्या 16व्या फेरीत चीनच्या क्वालिफायर यांग वेंग हॉंगकडून 16-21, 21-17, 17-21 असा पराभव पत्करावा लागला. श्रीकांतच्या बाद झाल्याने स्पर्धेतील भारतीय पुरुष एकेरीची मोहीम संपुष्टात आली. यापूर्वी देशाच्या मोहिमेचे नेतृत्व करणार्या 5वा मानांकित लक्ष्य सेनला पहिल्या फेरीतच पराभवाचा धक्का बसला.
फिलीपिन्समधील (Philippines) मनिला येथे गुरुवारी झालेल्या आशियाई बॅडमिंटन चॅम्पियनशिपमध्ये (Asian Badminton Championships) जागतिक अजिंक्यपद रौप्यपदक किदाम्बी श्रीकांतला (Kidambi Srikanth) पुरुष एकेरीच्या 16व्या फेरीत पराभव पत्करावा लागला. 7व्या मानांकित भारतीय खेळाडूला चीनच्या यांग वेंग हॉंग (Yang Weng Hong) कडून क्वालिफायरकडून 16-21, 21-17, 17-21 असे एक तास 17 मिनिटांत पराभव पत्करावा लागला.
