पाठिमागील दहा वर्षांमध्ये जवळपास 38,000 मुले दत्तक घेण्यात आल्याची माहिती केंद्र सरकारने सुप्रिम कोर्टात दिली आहे. ही मुले CARA (बाल दत्तक नियामक प्राधिकरण) च्या माध्यमातून दत्तक देण्यात आल्याचे केंद्राने सांगितले. सीएआरए ही एक दत्तक पालक योजना आहे. अनेक वेळा मुलांना सोडून दिले जाते किंवा त्यांचे आईवडील आकस्मिक गायब, बेपत्ता होता अशा मुलांना दत्तक प्रणालीमध्ये ठवले जाते.
