मरियप्पन थंगावेलूने मंगळवारी पुरुषांच्या उंच उडी टी 63 स्पर्धेत टोकियो पॅरालिम्पिकमध्ये रौप्य पदक पटकावले तर अमेरिकेचा विश्वविक्रमधारक सॅम ग्रेवेने 1.88 मीटरच्या सर्वोत्तम उडीसह सुवर्णपदक जिंकले. तसेच भारताच्या शरद कुमारने या स्पर्धेत कांस्यपदक जिंकले आहे. मरियप्पन आणि शरद यांनी रौप्य व कांस्य जिंकल्याने भारताने टोकियो पॅरालिम्पिक खेळातील पदकांची संख्या 10 वर नेली आहे.
