दीपक पुनियाने बर्मिंगहॅम कॉमनवेल्थ गेम्समध्ये पाकिस्तानी कुस्तीपटू मोहम्मद इनाम बट्ट याला हरवून सुवर्णपदक जिंकले. खेळांच्या 8 व्या दिवशी म्हणजे शुक्रवारी रात्री उशिरा दीपकने 86 किलो फ्रीस्टाइल प्रकारात त्याच्या पाकिस्तानी प्रतिस्पर्ध्याला 3-0 ने पराभूत केले. कुस्तीतील हे तिसरे आणि एकूण 9 वे सुवर्णपदक होते. यापूर्वी बजरंग पुनिया आणि साक्षी मलिक यांनीही आपापल्या गटात सुवर्णपदक जिंकले होते.
