Nagpur: अभिमानास्पद! नागपूरचे Manoj Pande यांची भारताचे नवे लष्करप्रमुख म्हणून निवड; 1 मे 2022 रोजी स्वीकारणार पदभार

लेफ्टनंट जनरल मनोज पांडे हे भारताचे नवे लष्करप्रमुख असतील. पांडे हे 29 वे लष्करप्रमुख होणार असून ते या पदावर पोहोचणारे पहिले अभियंता असतील. आतापर्यंत फक्त इन्फंट्री, आर्मर्ड आणि आर्टिलरी अधिकारीच लष्करप्रमुख झाले आहेत. नागपूरचे रहिवासी असलेले लेफ्टनंट जनरल पांडे 1 फेब्रुवारी 2022 रोजी लष्कराचे उपप्रमुख झाले होते. पांडे यांनी चीनला लागून असलेल्या सिक्कीम आणि लडाख सीमेवर अनेक ऑपरेशन्सचे नेतृत्व केले आहे.

ADGPI ने आपल्या ट्विटर हँडलवरून ट्विट करून नव्या लष्करप्रमुखांचे स्वागत केले आहे. लष्कराकडून सांगण्यात आले आहे की 1 मे 2022 रोजी मनोज पांडे नवे लष्करप्रमुख म्हणून पदभार स्वीकारतील. विद्यमान लष्करप्रमुख जनरल एमएम नरवणे यांचा कार्यकाळ या महिन्याच्या 30 तारखेला संपत आहे. दुसरीकडे सरकारी सूत्रांनी दिलेल्या माहितीनुसार, पुढील चीफ ऑफ डिफेन्स स्टाफ (CDS) कोण असेल यावर अद्याप कोणताही निर्णय घेण्यात आलेला नाही. गेल्या वर्षी डिसेंबरमध्ये सीडीएस जनरल बिपिन रावत यांचे हेलिकॉप्टर अपघातात निधन झाल्यानंतर हे पद रिक्त आहे.
