दक्षिण भारतातील प्रसिद्ध गायिका वाणी जयराम यांंचे निधन झाले आहे. वयाच्या 78व्या वर्षी त्यांनी अखेरचा श्वास घेतला आहे. वाणी जयराम राहत्या घरी मृतावस्थेत आढळल्या असल्याची माहिती पोलिसांनी दिली आहे. यंदाच्या वर्षीच त्यांना 'पद्मभूषण' हा मानाचा पुरस्कार देण्यात आला होता. गुड्डी (1971) या हिंदी चित्रपटातून 'बोले रे पापी हारा' या मियाच्या मल्हार रचनेतून त्यांनी पार्श्वगायनात पदार्पण केले होते.
