बंगालच्या उपसागरात स्थित अंदमान आणि निकोबार बेटे भूकंपाच्या दृष्टीने सक्रिय आहेत आणि भूकंपाचा इतिहास आहे.
भारतातील अंदमान निकोबार बेटांवर रविवारी संध्याकाळी 03.29 वाजता भूकंपाचे धक्के जाणवले. भूकंपाची तीव्रता रिश्टर स्केलवर 4.3 इतकी मोजण्यात आली आहे. भूकंपाचा केंद्रबिंदू 10 किमी खोलीवर होता. या भूकंपामुळे झालेल्या नुकसानाबद्दल अद्याप काही माहिती मिळाली नाही आहे.
