चिपको आंदोलनाचे प्रणेते श्री सुंदरलाल बहुगुणा यांच्या निधनावर पंतप्रधान नरेंद्र मोदी यांनी शोक व्यक्त केला आहे. त्यांनी आपल्या ट्विटमध्ये म्हटले, "सुंदरलाल बहुगुणा जी यांचे निधन हे आपल्या देशासाठी खूप मोठे नुकसान आहे. निसर्गाशी सुसंगत राहण्याची आपली वर्षांनुवर्षाची परंपरा त्यांनी जपली. त्यांचा साधेपणा आणि करुणता ही न विसरण्यासारखी आहे. मी त्यांच्या कुटुंबियांच्या दु:खात सहभागी आहे. ओम शांती."
